Project Summary

We are using recent developments in high throughput DNA sequencing to to characterise the species profiles of DNA samples obtained from predator faeces (scats). This approach enables the simultaneous sequencing of millions of DNA fragments from a single sample or pool of samples. We are combining this high-tech approach with a massive systematic collection of thousands of predator scats from across eastern Tasmania to test hypotheses about the distributions and relationships of predators (including foxes) and their prey.
