1st September 2017
Speaker: Tim Fisher
Location: 11:30 am to 12:30 pm in Building 6, Level C, Room 12
Australia is the driest inhabited continent on earth and water resources are highly variable. Challenges such as water scarcity, droughts, competing demands for water and climate change are high on Australia’s national agenda. Over the past three decades, Australia has undergone a journey of water reform to change the way its water is used and managed. This presentation will give you an overview of how Australia sustainably manages its water resources through the Murray-Darling Basin Plan and finds a balance between economic, environmental and social needs through national policies and programs.
Tim is the Assistant Secretary for the Water Policy branch at the Department of Agriculture and Water Resources .
